Seniors 55+ Colouring Contest

MCS invites Aylmer seniors 55+ to a colouring contest! This contest is possible because of funding from United Way’s Local Love in a Global Crisis grant.

Submit by June 11, 2020.

Prizes for the best pages in each category! Age 55-64, 65-74, 75-84, etc. Prizes have been donated by local businesses.

Winning pages will be featured in the Aylmer Express on June 17.

Here’s what you need to do:
1. Choose one or more colouring pages of your liking.
2. Colour your page with crayons, pencil crayon, or markers.
3. Write your age in bold numbers on the right, upper corner of your completed page.
4. Write your name, address and phone number on the back of your page for us to contact you if you are a winner.
5. Bring coloured page(s) to Trillium Park (24 Sydenham St. West, Aylmer) entrance drop box on Wednesday, June 10 or Thursday, June 11 by 5pm.
6. You can also mail your entry to our MCS location at 16 Talbot St. East, Aylmer, ON, N5H 1H4.
7. Colouring pages from seniors’ residences will be picked up Thursday, June 11 by 5pm.

William Janzen “Advocating For Peace” Book Launch

Several MCS staff attended the launch for William (Bill) Janzen’s new book,
Advocating for Peace: Stories from the Ottawa Office of Mennonite Central Committee, 1975-2008 in the evening on February 13 at Conrad Grebel in Waterloo. Bill served as director of the Ottawa Office of Mennonite Central Committee from 1975 to 2008, and he continues to be a helpful resource for our Settlement Services staff.

MCS Aylmer Thrift Store has moved!

Please note, the opening of our Thrift Store in its new location has been postponed to Thursday, November 28.

Our apologies for any inconvenience. We need a bit more time to get things ready and open our doors to a better shopping experience for the whole community!

Our 20 Talbot St. E location is now closed. Donations will continue to be received at 300 Talbot St. W.

The $200 Challenge

MCS is growing, and our Thrift Store is expanding! You can get involved by taking on this special challenge.

What is the $200 challenge? By September 12, 2019, we hope to have reached 1,000 people to donate $200 each to the MCS Capital Campaign!

Your $200 will go towards bigger facilities for the Aylmer Thrift Store and Mennonite Community Services. Your donation will help create better and fully accessible shopping at the Thrift Store for all! Your donation will also help grow our community programs.

Every step gets us closer to our goal! If $200 is not possible for you, please know that every little bit helps. Any donation is appreciated! Please help us spread the word. Donations are tax receiptable. There are several ways you can make a donation:
